Is it odd, that you'd know of, that I took this picture in Northern New Jersey on October 14th of this year?

I'm not very knowledgable on the butterflies. Personally, I've only seen one or two of these alive in south Jersey / southeastern PA in the last 40 years (so I must not be looking in the right places). But check out the "Data" tab under the species page here at BugGuide. It compiles the states and months observed (posted). A quick scan looks like there are a few records from Oct from states(PA, WS, MA) with similar or cooler climates, but not for all the similar states. So I'd guess it is at least a bit unusual.
