Ichneumon wasp - Megarhyssa nortoni - female

Ichneumon wasp - Megarhyssa nortoni - Female
Adams County, Pennsylvania, USA
June 4, 2004
I think this is a Giant Ichneumon Wasp and have labeled it Megarhyssa ichneumonidae. Can anyone verify this as the correct ID from the photo?

Moved from Orange and Brown.

Right - Megarhyssa sp.
No other genus shows at once this giant size, nor the same overall shape, color pattern and wing venation. Superb shot of a no less superb insect! (Our only European species is called M. superba: it is almost identical, only of a bit duller, less orange, light brown).

Hello
I have another picture of this giant wasp that a family member took here in Missouri

Thank you .....

Wow.
I agree this is a magnificent shot! Looks like a species we don't have represented yet, either.

Greetings..
Eric and thanks for the comment. I have never seen another like it throughout all my hiking. I am grateful that I had this opportunity.
