Why is this not C. callipes?
According to Whitworth 2006(1), Compsomyiops callipes differs from Cochliomyia by the brown calypter, clavate palp, and bend in M not closer to wing margin than dm-cu.

In terms of superficial appearance of validated specimens, Compsomyiops callipes seems to have a dark purple abdomen and darker scutum, versus the typically more tomentose scutum and more greenish abdomen in C. macellaria.
