Eucosma sp. - Pelochrista subflavana
White Lake Rd., ~6.2 km SW of Hwy. 97, 49.3303 N & -119.6307 W, Okanagan-Similkameen, British Columbia, Canada
June 16, 2009
Attracted to lights. Very similar to John Davis' unidentified Eucosma moths.

Moved
Moved from Eucosma.

Marius, I am pretty sure that this is E. subflavana. If you have a specimen I could dissect it to verify.

Pelochrista grandiflavana?
Could you take another look? Based on Wright & Gilligan (2017), this looks more like Pelochrista grandiflavana to me.

Pelochrista subflavana
Michael Sabourin agrees Pelochrista subflavana is more likely.

Thanks Jason,
Nice of you to give a species ID. I can't remember if i collected the specimen or not... I'm slowly moving to photographing only...

Possibly 3096 - Eucosma grandiflavana
I'm saving the photo tentatively under this name for further research. It is a little-known species from northern California and perhaps northward. I have not yet worked through the Eucosma in the USNM and hope to learn more when I do.

My thoughts too...
I also thought this specimen looks quite similar to E. grandiflavana, but when i read the info in Powell & Opler's book it seems this rather enigmatic species is not found North of California... The other similar species is Argyrotaenia franciscana insulana, but it is restricted to Channel Islands, CA.

Some observations
It isn't a particularly common species. I only found them in three locations and always as only one individual per location. I will try to rear them if i ever collect females.
