Bombus bee? - Bombus impatiens

Bombus bee? - Bombus impatiens

I was taking photos of two hover fly species that I had not previously photographed when this bee came through the frame. Unfortunately it was the only image I took. Reviewing it later it seems that it is a Bombus sp. bee instead of the carpenter bees that are prevalent in my yard. Is there any way to identify to species from this photo?

Bombus (Pyrobombus) impatiens
this individual is unusual in that it has a yellow patch in middle of T2 as in bimaculatus but it otherwise looks like impatiens (color and distribution of thoracic hairs) and the Oct date is too late for bimaculatus. Some impatiens have a considerable amount of yellow on T2 and these can easily be confused with bimaculatus
