Crab looking spider-Orb Weaver? - Gasteracantha cancriformis

Crab looking spider-Orb Weaver? - Gasteracantha cancriformis

Found this at my mother in laws house and I had to take as many photos as I could of it. I should have left it on the tree. I did let it back out once I took photos of it.
It was odd for it kept shooting its web at me and my camera.

Shooting silk...
...is sometimes a sign of trying to balloon away. Although I am not sure if that is in fact a technique used by Spinybacks. And I definitely agree with John on the ID. Neat spider!

"balloon away"
like the kid in Colorado. :)

Haha!
...what a publicity stunt that was!

Thank you so much. I just love looking at this spider. The rest I could do with out. :)
