Rod says: Now this could be interesting. These days, a Xysticus other than cristatus is a good find, and this one looks rather unusual. Even if it's just pretiosus it would still be new to the guide.

Too bad! It's a penultimate male. This wasn't at all clear from the
photo, couldn't see the palps at all. This fellow likely won't mature
before spring so I'm putting him out to make his own way in the world.

I have seen a few of these I think, or at least ones that looked like this. After reading what Rod said, maybe I'll try to collect the next one I see. This one that I submitted looked just like yours, except my photos were horrible. The ID didn't get further than Xysticus of course. Perhaps our area has bred a new species? That would be neat.

they do look the same. I collected mine, so Rod will be able to give us species ID if it's mature.
