Size: 3/8" approx
This appears to be a cuckoo wasp . It was hanging around on one of the big retired pump diesels next to the Herbert Hoover Levee on the South shore of Lake O . There were many wasp species around these engines including paper wasps , potter wasps , mason wasps , mud daubers , and these .
