Brown Lacewing - Hemerobius humulinus

Brown Lacewing - Hemerobius humulinus
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
October 28, 2009
Size: 7mm
I haven't seen this brown lacewing in a few months. As I have not noticed them during the summer, I think it's safe to interpret the distribution data as them being present October - March. Next few months should either verify or deny this hypothesis.

Moved
Moved from Wesmaelius. Agreed with Patrick, there aren't any species of Wesmaelius known from the southeastern US. Presumably the original ID was based on the lighter stripe down the body, but that also occurs in Hemerobius humulinus, which is within range. The head structure differs between the genera, and Wesmaelius typically has grayer wings.

sure this is Wesmaelius?
I'm wondering about the genus of this one. It does not look too close to the other Wesmaelius we have here, and that genus is supposed to be largely northern, as are all our other specimens here. To me, your photo looks pretty close to some Hemerobius:

I could certainly be wrong--this is a difficult group.
