Epigynum - Chinattus parvulus - Female
Chicopee watershed (131), Unknown County, Massachusetts, USA
June 15, 2008
Image of epigynum taken through microscope. I suspect this is Chinattus parvulus but am seeking confirmation. Specimen was taken in an emergence trap in a forested watershed habitat.

This poor monotype species seems to be a bit of a problem. Paquin & Dupérré moved it to Habrocestum, and Proszynski thinks that the Asiatic genus Habrocestoides is worthy of consideration.

I certainly don't know the Salticidae, but comparing your image to Paquin & Dupérré's (2003) drawing, your conclusion seems reasonable to me. They give the size as 4,0-5,5 mm.
