Strange bug - Leptoglossus oppositus

Strange bug - Leptoglossus oppositus
Blackwood, Camden County, New Jersey, USA
October 14, 2005
Size: Approx. 1 in
These insects appeared early this fall. They seem to like the warmth of my walls and grill from the sun hitting them. They walk very slowly, and don't fly far when spooked.

Thanks
Thanks for the quick I.D.

leafooted
I am thinking more in the neighbourhood of Coreidae. Maybe Leptoglossus?
e.g.

I agree with Sean.
Leaf-footed bugs are known for invading homes in the fall, seeking a place to overwinter.

Consensus:-)
I agree with Sean and Hannah. No assassin bugs I know of in the U.S. have leaf-like expansions on the hind legs.

Maybe Assassin Bug

Possibly something in Reduviidae. Cool photo!
