I saw about ten of these medium-sized whitish moths fluttering in a sunny spot in the woods recently on a warmer-than-usual day (it was about 11°C that afternoon). Very few would land where I could photograph them. I think it might be a Bruce Spanworm or Autumnal Moth or something related.

looks like the bruce spanworm to me..
but what do i know? i compared in the guide and it seems to match up to this pretty well..
