Mallophora - Mallophora bomboides

Mallophora - Mallophora bomboides
Spiderweb, Aiken County, South Carolina, USA
September 23, 2009
Size: ~30mm
This specimen was found dead under a Crape Myrtle tree.
There was no obvious signs of what caused its demise.
It looks like some of the images of M. bomboides as it has the last few abdominal segments covered in yellow hairs and is a bit larger than other Mallophora's I have seen in this area.
Because it is dead, it can be frassed if that fact is a problem.
