Aphid eater on milkweed - Eupeodes

Size: 8-9 mm
It has grown one or two millimeters larger in just one day. Perhaps it was dehydrated and the fresh leaves restored some of its water. I gave it an aphid; it grabbed it without hesitation and proceeded to suck it dry. It took 15 minutes from beginning to end and the poor aphid kept kicking and screaming during most of this process. I will try to get more milkweed aphids for my "pet maggot" tomorrow, but don't tell my friends; they already think that I have maggots in my gray matter.
