Another aphid eater. Larva - Syrphus

Size: 8-9 mm
Found on the same dying milkweeds as the other syrphid larva, but very different in color, texture and anatomy. It also appears thinner and more mobile. The 8-9 mm size refers to this relaxed position, but I have seen it crawling around and it can reach 12 mm easily.

Update: as of January 2010, it never pupated, it just shriveled. It still seemed alive but barely.
