Moved from Paederini. Mike, you're sure right, this is a good one! Al Newton recognized it as Sphaeronum, the described species of which are known from Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and Cuba, plus unidentified records from Mexico that we reported in the 2002 Guia (not all that close to Brownsville/Matamoros). This is not just a new genus for the guide - as far as we know, it's a new generic record for the USA!
