This small moth with bold black and white markings was photographed along the edge of Mayfield Pond, a small watershed on rugged BLM (U.S. Bureau of Land Management) land 12 miles east of Bend, Oregon, about 1/2 mile north of Alfalfa Market Road.

Should it matter that the wings on my specimen appear to be more rounded?

Well, I might as well use it to say I agree this is a Riding's Forester.

 
Could it be
the angle at which the camera was that affects the wing "roundness"?

but I'm afraid I don't have the expertise to answer it. Perhaps someone else can.
