Cerambycidae > Lamiinae > Leptostylopsis sp ? - Leptostylopsis argentatus

Cerambycidae > Lamiinae > Leptostylopsis sp ? - Leptostylopsis argentatus
Middleburg, Clay County, Florida, USA
November 10, 2009
Size: 10.45mm
Collected this on some recently cut Maple trunks. Keys out to Leptostylopsis using Am
Beetles Vol II, (Pg 586 ending w/key #66). Crossing w/Cerambycidae of FL, it would be a
L. argentatus or L. terraecolor. The color and markings more closely resemble argentatus
but the overall body appears more elongate than the thumbnail in Dr. Thomas's site. The
row of black spots @ pronotal base and the two longitudinal stripes behind the head also
lean me towards the same conclusion. I am hoping someone can confirm my guess as it will
be a new species for me. Comments most welcome.

i like L. argentatus (DuV.) for this one
wait for an expert, though -- i hope Dr. Thomas will see it

it is L. argentatus...
L. terraecolor is darker overall and its black elytral fasciae (behind the middle) do not abruptly curve anteriorly on the suture as in argentatus.

L. argentatus
Many thanks to both of you. Of the 232 species of Cerambycids
listed in FL, I now have 26, almost there eh! John, you have
some big footsteps to follow having had those three mentioned in
your profile as instructors and mentors. Thanks again.
