Globular Springtail - Dicyrtomina minuta - male

Globular Springtail - Dicyrtomina minuta - Male
Tiverton, Newport County, Rhode Island, USA
November 15, 2009
Size: 1mm
Comments from Frans Janssens:

"A male specimen: note the male genital papilla at the ventral side of the 5th abdominal segment. In males the genital orifice is a keyhole-like shaped opening placed on a raised papilla. In females the genital orifice is more like a short transverse slit, not raised, but with kind of lips (anterior and posterior one)."
