Wasp - Gasteruption - male

Wasp - Gasteruption - Male
DuPage County, Illinois, USA
August 22, 2005
I found this male Gasteruption one evening. He was preparing for bed, it seems: performing a cleaning ritual not unlike many other insects I've seen cleaning their antennae, etc. I took a whole series of images, and found these two prove conclusively that the praying mantis is NOT the only insect that can turn its head independant of other body parts. (Ok, maybe not everyone has heard that assertion).
