Moved from Dytiscus.

Either D. circumcinctus or D. alaskanus
Based on the acuminate (pointed) metacoxal lobes as seen in the ventral view and smaller size (eliminates D. dauricus, which is alot larger). To confirm D. circumcinctus check for the yellow ring around the inner margins of the eyes (see guide pages for examples), which I can't see in the images. D. alaskanus is another possibliity but the species usually has more expanded black markings on the abdominal sterna- this might well be a paler variant.

It does not seem to have the yellow around the eyes that you described and that was visible in your image, although there almost seems to be a very thin yellow line (that was only visible in the photo -- didn't see it "in the flesh"). I'm going to add an image of the face so you can see it too!

D. alaskanus
The yellow ring is incomplete and reduced, eliminating D. circumcinctus. Therefore this can only be D. alaskanus and the ventral colouration indicates an atypical pale variant as illustrated in Larson (2000).

Interesting!
Thanks very much for these IDs.
