Scuddera or Microcentrum? - Scudderia mexicana - female

Scuddera or Microcentrum? - Scudderia mexicana - Female
Encino, Los Angeles County, California, USA
April 10, 2004
Size: 3 inches (at least)
On African Blue Basil in my front yard.

Over the years I've seen what looked very clearly like Scuddera as well as what very clearly looked like Microcentrum around here. I'm not sure about this one, though.

Moved

Scudderia female.
This is a female bush katydid, probably S. furcata, as that might be the only species in your area. East of the Rockies it gets more complicated:-)

Two Species
According to this site it could be S. mexicana as well. They have a serious of ovipositor drawings, but the difference between mexicana and furcata is a little too subtle for me to even guess.
