Redcap For The Insect World - Leucochrysa pavida

Redcap For The Insect World - Leucochrysa pavida
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
November 28, 2009
Found on the trunk of an oak tree. Just happened to be looking in the general direction when it first moved. After a few establishing shots, it appeared to start walking, then rolled to the side of the tree and hung up there. I shot as it opened and it tumbled after a few frames, presumably because it was tired of having a flash go off in its face, and I lost it. My presumption is it is a lacewing larva, if that is possible this late in the year. Approx. 6-7 mm rolled up.
