Diapause
By the way, the enlarged abdomen appearing white: ususally this means a female is gravid, but in this case, I suspect that it is a hypertrophied fat body due to diapause.

Wow. Good photos. I would say that is exactly what you have. The only species you might mistake this for is Culex restuans. They are almost identical except for a couple light-scaled areas on the scutum. See this site for an example:http://www.mosquito-va.org/culex_restuans.htm.
