Hi Scott, Nice to see some
Hi Scott,

Nice to see some rove pics!
This species belongs to the testaceus group of Sepedophilus. It is difficult to decide which one, especially down in VA (2 more options than in Canada). The coloration points to the common testaceus but I can't be sure without additional photos.
The photo quality is great as usual!

Cheers,
Adam

Hello Adam
Thanks to you and V for the ID. I hope you can see the full 1024 pixel resolution image. I am finding more rove beetles as I focus my attention more to the leaf litter again. I have at least one more submission to make later on.

My dorsal shots of this beetle didn't turn out as it started to run after the first few lateral shots.
