Size: around 0.5-1 inches
I know this is a beetle. Unfortunately that is where my knowledge ends.

how do you navigate the Guide? i mean, "going picture by picture" over, like, 50,000+ beetle images sounds really cruel...

Osmoderma scabra
One of two species of Osmoderma in CT (the other being O. eremicola, which has smooth elytra).
