Anthophylax cyaneus - Male
Weld, Franklin County, Maine, USA
June 7, 2009
Size: 14 mm
Many specimens were seen crawling on the ground on warm sunny day at the base of Tumbledown Mountain.

north woods
I sent one of these beetles to a friend down south with a note "not exactly Plinthocoelium suaveolens but still a nice beetle." In general, we don't get too many big "trophy" beetles in the north woods but if you look hard enough there are some little gems to wet our appetite for what it must be like for coleopterists in the tropics! Please also see comments under image # 355768 re the habitat of this beetle.

Beautiful specimens.
Seems like it has been awhile since your images have appeared here, so great to see you back! Any tips on how to achieve such great images of specimens? I am looking to image some of my own over the winter....
