Thoughtful Apamea - Apamea cogitata

On our livingroom floor. I think this one looks most like Apamea cogitata but I could only find two pinned specimens for comparison. The next-closest species was A. dubitans, which looks darker brown/less reddish and has very dark shading in the terminal area. Compare both species.
