Batman Bug - Limnocoris moapensis

Batman Bug - Limnocoris moapensis
Moapa Warm Springs, Headwaters of the Muddy River North of Indian Reservation, Clark County, Nevada, USA
May 18, 1989
This is one of my favorite little insects. I had to take the images through the microscope. I don't have a lot of experience with taking images this way. I have the scientific name written down at school and will post it tomorrow. I just had to share the image today. What a great bug !

Awesome!
A very nice rarity...seems like this species is restricted only to this Nevada locality (Moapa Valley). Great finds such as this make me long to go collecting in the Southwest..perhaps someday...

Thanks, I hope to go back myself and study its behavior etc.

Photographing live specimens
glassman, have you been back to visit the wild populations of this species since you took these photos of the pinned specimen? I visit Clark County 2 or 3 times per year and am hoping to make a trip out to Moapa Valley this December or January to see if I can't find these guys in a non-protected area. I would love to be able to see and photograph some live specimens of this little beastie!
