Green Scarab - Chrysina gloriosa

Green Scarab - Chrysina gloriosa

August 1, 1991
Years ago I traded for this interesting green scarab. I have never seen one quite like this in the field. From what I gather it was collected in a light trap.

Not much...
is known about their biology. Larva believed to feed in rotting wood or are root-feeders. Adults are not uncommon at blacklight in the oak-juniper forests in southern AZ to southern TX. Adults of C. gloriosa rest on juniper, where their silver stripes make great camoflauge.
