Observed at 7:45 AM scurrying around Montauck Daisy (Nipponanthemum nipponicum) leaves.
It was quick to fly which I didn't expect from a Phorid appearing fly so only have this one shot.

Good call on the ID, great picture! Brian Brown at the LA County Museum could probably tell you which genus, if not the species....
