Lethocerus
May be L. americanus..but the somewhat banded legs may also suggest L.uhleri, which I don't know whether it occurs in your area.

L. uhleri does not occur in Utah and from the guide pages has more distinctively banded legs

Thank you! There does not seem to be a lot of diversity in this family in northern Utah. We have collected some smaller species in Southern Utah.

Smaller species
are likely to be Abedus herberti utahensis, a rare subspecies of A. herberti. Please post pics if you have them!
