immature Earwig ? - Forficula dentata
Sunol regional park , Alameda County, California, USA

Size: 1/4 "
I flipped a log and found this little fellow , which looks like an Earwig , but has a rounded buttocks and no visible pinchers . I did not see any grown Earwigs around , so thought maybe it was something different . Thanks for any comments sincerely beth

Your critter
looks a lot like these young European Earwigs

EXCEPT, I can't see any cerci ("tails") on yours. Could it be that they're present but simply don't show up well on the photo? Or maybe the young of other earwig species don't have obvious cerci. Or maybe it's just something else entirely? I'll be interested in seeing the suggestions of others.

Definitely looks like an earwig to me
Young earwigs usually have thin cerci that might not show up against the background if not in focus. they also might have been lost to a near-miss with a predator
