Please note that these larvae came from galls which were collected on October 3 in Tommy Thompson Park and the kept at room temperature in a ziplock bag. However, some of them were from a different fruit fly, see

I wonder whether the smaller one is the parasitoid Eurytoma gigantea rather than the fly
Size and shape are different.
Parasitoids are very abundant in goldenrod galls: Goldenrod gall fauna.

Indeed one of them does not look so fat and I should have paid more notice to it.
This is yet another interesting find to add to my goldenrod gall collection. I'm learning all the time!
