Eats the leaves of our Mexican Olive Tree. The head is on ther broad end, the tail has the false antanae.

Not too surprising as its host, Wild Olive ranges all the way up to San Antonio and a bit beyond...

Wild olive leaf beetle
According to Dr. Roy Parker, Texas A&M, -"The insect is the larva
stage of a leaf beetle in the family Chrysomelidae. I refer to them as
the "wild olive leaf beetle" although there is no official common name.
It is a very common of all wild olive trees in South Texas.
