Niptus sp. - Niptus ventriculus
Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA

Size: 2.4 mm
Another from a packrat nest. I don't have the revision by Aalbu and Andrews so can't say what species. Anyone?

more from Andy: "I'm fairly confident it's N. ventriculus...
"...so no need to send additional photos. The images I would need would have to be high magnifications of the frons and antennal fossae... difficult to image to say the least."

Moved from Spider Beetles.

from Andrew R. Cline:
"These are cool little beetles... great catch for sure! Anyway, the species is probably N. ventriuclus LeConte. The setation looks right for it to be ventriculus, but I can't see any of the other characters. Regardles, it's a nice Niptus!"

Great!
Thanks! I'll make a note of that and when I get the paper I can check the details.
