Unknown Long-legged Fly - Dactylomyia lateralis
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA

Size: less than 5mm
I looked around but couldn't quite match it up to something. I realize one photo ain't a lot, but can it be ID'd?

Upright?
Is the angle of the picture correct? Medetera likes to perch like that head-up on tree trunks.

I don't know what
I was thinking, John. Yes, the orientation is incorrect. It was facing up the trunk of an oak. Is there some way to turn this photo clockwise in the Edit section? As to Medetera, I have only seen one particular species of it, so I don't know if there are others that match this fly. One reason I didn't think it belonged there was that the legs on this fly are smooth as glass and the coloring is all wrong.
