Asilidae - Stichopogon fragilis

Asilidae - Stichopogon fragilis
Colorado River, Picacho State Park, Imperial County, California, USA
September 1, 1989
Size: 4 mm
We collected this little fly at our light trap along the Colorado river. Our trap was powered by two car batteries. We had two florescent bulbs that shined very brightly in the dark desert. I was hoping that this was a very small robber fly. Can anyone help verify this. If you enjoy running a light trap you need to check out this location.

For sure an asilid, so Family Asilidae, no idea about the genus though. But I'm not very familiar with Nearctic Asilidae...
