Eastern Bumelia Borer - Plinthocoelium suaveolens
Devil's Knob-Devil's Backbone Natural Area, Izard County, Arkansas, USA
August 26, 2005
Size: about 1.5"
I collected this specimen during a trip to northern Arkansas with a net after it landed on a tree (hickory, I believe). At some point in this specimen's life, part of the right mesothoracic tibia and the tarsus were lost. Since I collected it, some of the terminal tarsomeres have become detached.
