Common Bed Bug - Cimex lectularius

Common Bed Bug - Cimex lectularius
Gorham, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
December 15, 2009
Size: 3.9mm
This was a new bug for me, so I didn't mind finding it on the pillow case in my motel room:-) It must have been the only one on the bed, since I didn't get any bites during the night.
Identified by comparing it to this very similar picture.

Tom ...
The lengths you go, just to photo another bug :)

No pain no gain:-)
I hope this winter ends pretty soon so I can find bugs outside instead of tucked under the sheets!

Know the feeling ...
A few winters ago, I intentionally reared some Indian Meal Moths

Just because.....
Just because you didn't experience any pain or itching, or show any welts or anything, doesn't mean you weren't bitten:-)

Yup...
this is C. lectularius. The other Cimex in North America (C. hemipterus) that usually bites humans is not found that far north, and has the anterior end of the pronotum more straight across, and not depressed back.
