Black Corsair ? - Melanolestes picipes

Black Corsair ? - Melanolestes picipes
Warren County, North Carolina, USA
December 7, 2009
I believe this is Melanolestes picipes that I photographed on 7 Dec 2009 while looking for Winter Moths. Is this Assassin Bug normally active in the Winter ? Do I have the ID correct ?

Yes
The little "ankle weights" rule out the similar-looking masked hunter.
