Larvae develop in galls on the underside of post oak (
Quercus stellata) leaves in the fall: "Globular, thin-shelled leaf gall, spotted and sometimes tinged with pink and covered with a white bloom, internally a filament supported cell, diameter 1/2 to 3/4 inch."
(1) The galls are usually single. Larvae pupate and reach adulthood by late November or early December.
