Megachile (Xanthosarus)
female

looks like M. frigida but I'm not certain

frigida
That explains why I thought it looked chilled.

Leaf cutter
No pad (arolium) between tarsi, so, given the wing venation and general conformation, it might be Megachile sp. An expert may supply a better ID if you leave the photos where they are for now. Photog question: Is this bee chilled and posed? Seems to have the same posture, and the same stuff by its left rear tarsi, in all three pics. Nice detail, once again.

bee
No, the bee was not chilled. It was photographed in place. Sometimes they just sit still like this and are not disturbed by the camera though that doesn't happen very much.

Astounding ...
... clarity. When I upgrade, looks like the Olympus 50mm you're using would be a good choice.

camera
Actually these photos were taken with a Sony DSC-H5.

I have that camera

The only problem with this camera is that it uses up batteries faster than any of the other cameras I have.

thanks
That'll save me from flying in ever-decreasing circles.
