While looking for butterflies, I came across what I think are stink bug nymphs or something similar. I have looked through pages of stink bugs and haven't come across this one. Maybe someone will know what they are. Thanks for looking. Carol

ID confirmed by J.E. Eger: "probably"

What is this bug?
Did you identify it? I found a similar one to this photo on a tomato in my garden in southern Baja on the pacific. I will post photo. Like Carol's photo mine have an orange head rather than black! Please let me know what it is.

Hi, Carol. While it can be disappointing when your insect is not immediately identifiable, there is an up-side -- that likely means that we don't have any other images of these nymphs yet! Give it some time and I wouldn't be surprised if they get identified eventually. By the way, it is possible that they are nymphs of some other family than Pentatomidae (Stink Bugs). One of the other families listed on this page may be a plausible candidate.

there
are two species that remotely resemble what you have here.

the first is Euthyrhynchus floridanus, the Florida Predatory Stink Bug
since your photo was taken in florida

the second is Sehirus cinctus, the White-margined Burrower Bug
found around florida but not in it according to map
neither looks exactly alike, but these are my best guesses.

i am doubting both of these because the head of yours is orange while both above are black.wait for experts.
but hopefully this can either get you closer or narrow it down.

I was hoping that someone wou
I was hoping that someone would recognize these cute little nymphs. But i guess they don't. Molly, thank you so much for your response. I have looked at the Florida Predatory Stink Bug many times and trying to make that work but I can't make the pattern work. Maybe it isn't a stink bug. They are pretty little bugs anyway.

I have been looking at your photos and you should be commended for your work. You have some great photos. Keep up the good work!!

I live in southern Baja on the pacific coast. I found a similar big to yours and came across your post! Mine also has Orange head instead of black like other photos I have seen. Has it ever been identified? I will add my photo.
