Bee - Agapostemon virescens - female

Bee - Agapostemon virescens - Female
Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon, USA
August 22, 2009
Size: approx 13mm+
Magnificent, impressive bee. Compared to the Agapostemon I've seen in the yard, this one is huge, easily the size of a honey bee. The green thorax and head are also the richest green of any bee I've come across, so far. I'm guessing this is a female, because of the hairs on the legs and the hairy pale bands about what appears a black abdomen.
