Moved
Moved from Billbugs.

corrected ID
Sphenophorus vomerinus LeConte, I have checked both literature and my collection and am sure of this ID. Dryophthoridae, Rhynchophorinae, Sphenophorini.

Classification
I created a new species page in our current hierarchy. I posted a forum topic(1) concerning the promotion of Dryophthoridae to family so BugGuide's beetle experts can discuss.

Moved from Sisal Weevil.

ID correction
Sphenophorus sp. I will get the specific name later. I misientified the weevil as Scyphophorus acupunctatus by not carefully checking my ID against my collection. It was a lapsus, but mistakes do occur and cannot always be avoided.

ID & familiy name
Scyphophorus acupunctatus the family name is now Dryophthoridae, subfamily Rhynchophorhinae, tribe Sphenophorini.

Moved
Moved from Dryophthorinae.

The system was confused by the date you entered; it shows 1969.

ID
Scyphophorus acupunctatus Gyllenhal, an agave weevil

possibly
a Scyphophorus sp.

Thank you, Dr. O'Brien,
I appreciate the ID.

My error
I apologize for the error in my earlier ID's but the only way I know to avoid all errors is to do nothing. I am pleased that I could correct the error so soon.
