Apis mellifera
They look like Honey Bees to me, Eugene. Under what circumstances did you photograph these? (By that I mean... What are they crawling on?)

It's their nest in cavity of California Sycamore (Platanus racemosa). They are wild.

Eugene, do you have any other photos which would show the entrance/location of the nest on the tree itself? If so, might be nice to add that to this post.
