Size: 10 - 12 cm
Under oak bark on ground in oak woodland. Warm day (mid-70's), but it had rained earlier in the week. Observed several more in another oak woodland 1 mile away.

Hiltonius pulchrus
common in oak woodland habitat in los angeles, and orange county.

Hiltonius hebes is similar, but has fainter red banding, and a more brownish color, sometimes also occurs in this area, but much more common in san diego county.

Aside from these two, the only other large millipedes here are Atopetholus, which only grow to 3-3.5 inches
