Apocrita sp.? - Goniozus - female

Apocrita sp.? - Goniozus - Female
Okeechobee County, Florida, USA
December 11, 2009
Thinks it's an Apocrita, but can't rule out some other tiny species of bee or wasp. Collected as tiny ant from beating live oaks, but discovered it was bee or wasp upon examining under microscope. (New microscope arriving next week, so we hope to get much better images in future.)

Moved
Moved from Bethylidae.

Female of Goniozus
This specimen is female of the genus Goniozus (Bethylidae)
Most species of Goniozus are ectoparasitoid of micro-lepidopteran insects. So, they are commonly collected by beating any leafs of plants.

Thank you so much for ID to g
Thank you so much for ID to genus.

a neat bethylid, but most of our inventory lingers at fam. level
...which is a shame :-/ several wasp guys told me these are all but unIDable from images, so consider collecting the specimens

Moved from Ants, Bees, Wasps and Sawflies.

Thanks for ID to family.
We have the specimen, preserved in 95% ethyl alcohol. Just need to know to whom we should send it for ID to genus and, possibly, species.

Dennis Haines
might be able to help you out. I don't have too much experience with bethylids. I'm unsure if there are any specialists for the family in the United States.
