I hate to bug you...
for more images, but do you have a shot of the elytra apices from behind? Or from slightly above? I have it narrowed down to B. ordinatus and B. striatus (leaning towards the former) but would like a better look at the elytral apices to be sure! Thanks!

I collected this one: [thumb
I collected this one:

in August and have been rearing it ever since. I'd like to get it identified to species. To that end, since I have access to it, I can plan to take whatever photographs would be informative for an ID. What would be the best things to photograph?

Thanks for your interest!
The uploaded image is the only one I had that might be of some value.
Unfortunately it is from above and slightly behind.
(Being "bugged" is the object of this game!)

Correct.
Your genus ID is correct.

the species...
should be identifiable using "The Aquatic Hydrophilidae of Mississippi." I have this reference at home and can try and run it through the keys tonight, if no one gets to it first.

Thanks Blaine,
if critical details are missing, I have a number of other images that I can check.

not sure yet...
but one thing that may be helpful (it often is when keying out Berosus spp.) is a close-up of the tip of the abdomen on the ventral side.
